Interesting article from Sowell in the Washington Post. Thomas Sowell accuses Washington politicians for encouraging/demanding reckless lending. Singles out Barney Frank, but not Bush, the big promoter of "the ownership society"??
"Although this is the biggest housing disaster the government ever produced, it is by no means the first. Republicans intervened in the housing markets to promote more homeownership in the 1920s, Democrats in the 1930s and both parties after World War II. All these interventions led to massive foreclosures."
I wish he had links to back up these claims from 20s, 30s and post WWII.

FYI, the Washington Times and the Washington Post are very different newspapers.
To start with, I think the prior is still owned by a cult. |
