This one's pretty bad:
Thain Fired.
Step 1. Negotiate an acquisition with knowledge that you won't survive without it. Wait required 2-3 months for "due diligence".
Step 2. Ask for $10 million bonus for finding a bigger sucker. If you get it - great! If not, there's still steps 3-5.
Step 3. Payout bonuses, at bubble levels, just before acquisition. Wait 2 weeks.
Step 4. Ask for bailout. Wait 1 week.
Step 5. Take severance compensation with you.
If you do a good job, then you'll take every citizen for about $40. For extra reward, insert step 2.5: create more liabilities to increase bonus in step 3.
Not sure how much step 4 will cost BoA but doubtful it will be 0. Seems like a good scam to me. At least the transfer of wealth from taxpayers to overpaid government employees buys the public services, albeit expensive services. |

I think he was just really lucky. He did a good job for his shareholders and employees by finding a bigger sucker but it remains to be seen whether it was legal and he depended on the stupidity of others but I suppose genius is relative. I don't think it was smart of him to ask the bigger sucker for a bonus for making them the bigger sucker. |

Hey, I'm just holding my breath and hoping the government doesn't start nationalizing real estate, because then we'll all REALLY be in trouble.
I wouldn't put anything past our new president when it comes to bloating the government, just like his supposedly opposite predecessor did.
