This is interesting... I asked on the RedFin forums if they could detect relistings:

As you know, relisting is cancelling and re-entering a listing:

Buyer Beware: Unsold Homes Are Often 'Re-listed'
Listings That Linger on the Market Can Be Canceled and Re-Listed as New

Is there a way to detect these sleazy relistings? Redfin seems like the guys to do it :smileyhappy: Knowledge is power!

The response was from the Redfin Product Manager was interesting--

Relisting a property to reset the Days on Market is definitely a trick used by many realtors and is something that we have spent time trying to address. Due to MLS rules, we're actually not allowed to show the information about a prior listing once that listing has gone off the market. Unfortunately, that means that we can't show you the previous listing history and any price drops that it had. We're trying to figure out how to inform our customers that a home was delisted and then relisted right away but we also can't violate the MLS rules. Hopefully we'll figure out something soon and sorry for the inconvenience right now. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Seems like a pretty clear indicator of how Realtors and buyers' interest are not the same.. and who the MLS serves.
