Can anyone give me some advice on the town of belmont? Looking into buying there (3 beds), What should I expect to pay in terms of $/sq. feet? Also, as I am new to the area, any advice on the town is greatly appreciated.

The location sort of defines Belmont. People who value an easy commute in, but want a taste of suburban living. If you look at the surrounding communities you get a sense.

Newton is great, but is just huge; I think there are many little centers within Newton and they have two high schools so might feel a bit overwhelming and you might feel more like a number in the overall town, kind of like if you meet someone from Newton, would you feel comfortable saying "Hey do you know such-n-such from Newton?" . Arlington has a mix of young professionals, families, but has some People's Republic of Cambridge types as well as some working class. It's more of a mixed bag, but is really nice. Belmont seems more homogenous. I would say that it is most comperable to Lexington and Winchester (which are a bit more leafy than Belmont).

A sleeper town to check out is Wakefield.

Belmont is a very nice town with very expensive homes and excellent schools. You'll need to pay the premium to get in.
