Ive been watching for new listings and price reductions on properties inside the 495 beltway. But I haven't seen many price reductions or price declines in many of the good towns. Ive been checking the usual suspects - boston.com, MLS listings, FSBO, i soldmyhouse.com and craigslist. No real bargains in any of the desirable towns. Am i looking in the wrong places? Will an agent have access to better listings than these? Is there someway to compare asking price vs sale price for recently sold properties?

It would seem to me that the more desirable places to live are going to have a bit more stick on the downside. This probably shouldn't surprise anyone, though ... good communities are almost always in higher demand than less-desirable ones.

I would gather that the listing info doesn't differ much, if at all, though. I wouldn't buy anything if you don't have to though.

thanks. But towns like ashland and northboro have prices upwards 500k to 750k for 3-4 BR homes. Who can afford these homes? You will need incomes upwards of 150k-200k a year to afford these things.
