It's a "jobless recovery." Great news, right? I love how they lead off with the statement that the recovery has been "buoyed by a housing rebound" without mentioning that the "rebound" just so happens to coincide exactly with a big increase in the temporary home buyer tax credit.

I think the point that all the "experts" acknowledge is that you cannot have a recovery until people with money believe there could be a recovery. Stories and reports like this are an important first step in geting people to invest after which it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Thanks to the massive separation in wealth and the divergence of the economy from actually producing things of real value; it does not really matter where the poor people put their money or if they have jobs because they dont have enough to make a difference.
I think this it typically why the US does better than the UK as the US has more people ready to believe. |
