I've been reading alot about the Boston bubble, as well as the other big ones around the country. I'd like to know if anyone knows where I can find some numbers for the western mass market, and Springfield in particular.
I've seen that prices have come up over the last few years, but homes in this city are so cheap, that I tend to think the bubble isn't affecting this area as much. There are many homes in Springfield between 130k and 160k, and I am buying a nice 3 br, 1450 sqft with a small yard for 155k. I know some people will say 'wait and it will come down lower', and they'd probably be right, but I'm more concerned about where western mass will be in 5 years. Anyone have any input, or someplace to point me?

I can't speak to Springfield, but Worcester showed up on a list of areas where prices were most likely to decline. The whole state is losing population. What I wonder is whether it's the same pattern of loss as New York state, where NYC was propping up the state as upstate collapsed?
