I found my dream house! It can be done in cities! It can be done in cold / wet climates! It is affordable! It has good interior design and no mullets/grizzly men in site!

And I think "they don't make it like they used to": in my view a lot of new builds are poor quality and will fall apart in less than the time the mortgage is required.
This might be mitigated by trustworthy builders but I just think the materials have declined in quality for an affordable price point.
The apartment we bought in Buenos Aires (built in the 1920s) has wonderful, thick wood doors, a lovely parquet floor, etc. I think these features would cost a fortune now. |
