Median price for single-family homes is only $332k in Boston metro area? Doesn't sound right to me. You probably can only buy an ok condo with that little money in Boston......

They are probably using a larger physical area than what you are envisioning. Check out the Wikipedia page on "Greater Boston" for a good explanation of some of the various and differing uses of the term.
