Step right up, take a chance.

Bragging rights on the line here....

Pick three towns where you think mellonrightcoast bought in and when she discloses (she promised full disclosure) we will see who's centroid of the three town's centers is closest to where she bought.

Yes, you can double or triple down on one town i.e. "1.Wellesley, 2. Wellesley, 3 Wayland."

Anyway, here goes; my picks:

1. Wayland
2. Bedford
3. Southborough

The property taxes in Wayland are a killer. Reminds me of NJ property taxes.

Alright, maybe I shouldn't have agreed to get into this shark tank.

Nice groupings, nicely played....

I'll join:
1) Natick
2) Needham
3) Bedford (love that town)

Was very close in buying in Natick, but the dealing with the Mass Pike or Rt 9 to enter/exit the town was a hastle. There were tons of good deals when I was shopping early this spring.

hi!

JCK got it: Acton

What sold me on Acton was that the elementary schools here offer a choice. Meaning, you get to choose which school to send your child to, based on your child's learning style. They have five elementary schools and four different teaching styles. I'll start touring the schools in January to decide which school my older daughter will go to. The high school has consistently posted one of the highest math SAT scores in the state. The entire town is about raising kids. In fact, several houses that we toured, the owners were selling after their youngest graduated HS and was a freshman in college.

We paid $565K for a 3100 sq ft (including 400sq ft recently finished in basement) home on just under a half-acre lot. The house was gutted and expanded in 2003. WAY more space than we currently need, but we won't have to move or renovate for more space in a few years. We are on a cul-de-sac, adjacent to town conservation land, 1.1 miles from South Acton commuter station and half a mile from one of the several farms in the area. As with every neighborhood in Acton, our street is full of kids: kids the same age as ours and kids old enough to baby sit Smile.

We got a 5% interest rate for a $417K conforming loan and ultimately decided to get a small IO heloc to have extra cash cushion.

We love it and are honestly still in shock that we found a house that had everything we wanted/needed.

Best luck to all of you out there still looking!

Congratulations melonrightcoast, and thanks for letting us in on the details. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the schools once you start touring them, if you have the time and inclination to share.

Way to go. That is awesome!

One night when you line up a babysitter, take a ride over to Gibbet Hill for dinner. It is in Groton. It is a great place.

I think there are some cool places along 495 like the butterfly museum; the DeCordova Museum in Concord is really nice. There's a fun ice cream place with mini-golf that the kids seem to love in Westford. Downtown Concord and Lexington are very nice too. You'll love the farm stands out there; you can get fresh eggs and veggies. Congrat's again!

JCK is a total ringer we should have excluded him from the competition.
