Have you guys seen this blog?
http://flippersintrouble.blogspot.com/

It is an excellent listing of referenceable, verifiable houses bought in the last 2 years and now being sold for less money. The only problem is that it's limited to the Sacramento area. It would be awesome to have something like this for the Boston area. It seems like you would be the perfect person (people?) to do this. Me, I'm just not quite this ambitious.

Thanks for the suggestion. That is an extremely interesting site. Having something similar for Boston is a good idea, although I probably wouldn't have the time to lead that right now. There is something somewhat similar for Boston here:

http://www.platial.com/realestatecafe/map/6343

That site lists homes sold for less than assessed value. Maybe they would be interested in expanding to homes for sale that have an asking price which implies the seller is willing to take a loss. Hopefully that puts a spin on it that is less taunting and actually useful to the sellers. I think the sellers should be commended for not falling prey to the sunk cost fallacy and overcoming the natural instinct to loss aversion.
