It seems that the unemployment rate in the 'immune' towns is not catching up wtih the state rate. Although we do not know whether this trend continues, it is an interesting development. The unemployment rate in these towns is around 4% whereas the State rate is probably close to 8% or 9%. It would be interesting to link the housing prices with unemployment rates by town, and to see the progress (and deterioration) of these rates as time goes on. I do not believe that high unemployment alone causes housing prices to drop, but it would be an interesting correlation to take a note of.
